Madhuri Dixit's marriage to Dr Shriram Nene

Madhuri: 'I'm so excited...!'
When we spoke to Madhuri last evening, the brand new bride was blushing and EXCITED. 'You better be there!' she shouted. 'Tomorrow, I will introduce Shriram to the world. But nobody sees him before that.' However, even in her excitement MD was clever enough not to divulge what special outfit she would be wearing for the occasion. 'How can you ask a bride what she is going to be wearing? You are supposed to be seeing for yourself at the reception,' she laughed. We can be sure though that it will be something special as Mama Dixit told us, 'I can't afford to get excited, otherwise who will take care of Madhuri's excitement?' Touché. But we do wonder what a certain Shriram is going through at the moment. We will tell you tomorrow.

Madhuri-Sriram Nene: Reception of the Millennium!
Ok, all you guys out there, this is the moment of reckoning. You can clutch your hearts and die. Of course, all Madhuri rivals will rejoice. Because today is D-day. The day India's most gorgeous, talented actress Madhuri Dixit introduces that one fortunate man, doctor Shriram Nene, to the world. Today is the much awaited Madhuri-Shriram wedding reception, almost two months after the diva tied the knot with the doctor in a secret ceremony at his L.A. home: and even took a week off for a Hawaii honeymoon. Ever since, there has been much speculation about WHAT the doctor looked like or what he was all about. Anyway, today all roads lead to The Club at Andheri, Mumbai, where the Dixit-Nene reception will be hosted in grand style - and with most of the industry invited. We wish the couple a happily wedded future forever.
PS: Unlike most actresses who loose their glitter after a marriage announcement, Miss Deadly Dixit's appeal has only increased. Check out her message boards to verify.

Finally, the world could see who stole the heart of the Dhak Dhak girl when Madhuri Dixit's parents threw a party to celebrate the wedding of their daughter, youngest of a family of three sisters and one brother.
Besides Madhuri’s relatives and family friends, only close friends from the industry and people with whom Madhuri had worked were invited. Press photographers were strictly kept away.
So, now we know that Madhuri’s husband Sriram Nene is a little taller than her. He is as fair as Madhuri, perhaps a little fairer. He has a cute and boyish smile.
Madhuri wore a beautiful peach-and-silver ghaghra choli and had little make-up. Nene was attired in a skin-colored silk kurta churidar with a silk zari sherwani.
The guest list was pretty impressive with Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, Sena chief Bal Thackeray and Raj Thackeray gracing the occasion.
From the film world the Barjatya clan, Amitabh Bachchan with son Abhishek, Hema Malini, Anupam Kher, Shatrughan Sinha, Sanjay Khan, Randhir, Rishi and Rajiv Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Boney Kapoor, Sridevi, Sanjay Kapoor, Poonam Dhillon, Aroona Irani, Amrish Puri, Prem Chopra, Karan Johar, Tej Sapru, Preeti Sapru, Ashutosh Rana, Renuka Shahane, Shilpa and Namrata Shirodkar were among those who were there to wish the Nenes the very best in life. And of course, Madhuri's biggest fan, M F Husain was there too.
However, Bollywood's A-list of heroes and heroines was not there. There was no sign of Aishwarya Rai, Sushmita Sen, Karisma Kapoor, Kajol and Urmila Matondkar. Ajay Devgan, Sunil Shetty, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and Sanjay Dutt were also not there.

MUMBAI: All roads led to Andheri on Saturday evening and a billion hearts skipped a collective beat as one of India's icons of the millennium finally introduced the saajan who had stolen her dhak-dhak dil.
It was the night to beat all nights as Madhuri Dixit threw a glittering wedding reception to introduce her real-life hero, Dr Sriram Nene. Suave, polished and sophisticated, it was easy to understand why this NRI had won the ``million-dollar- smile'' sweepstakes, vanquishing millions of wannabe contenders.
And there was far more curiosity about this unveiling than that involving a newly discovered Rembrandt (or Husain, if we are to get contemporary). It was at this much-awaited wedding reception that her friends and fans finally got to meet the LA-based surgeon whom she had married in the US on October 17.
The marriage, reportedly arranged by Madhuri's brother Ajit Dixit, was held according to Vedic rites at the latter's home. Attended only by family and close friends, news of the wedding had come as a surprise to many.
After the wedding, Madhuri and Sriram had taken ten days off to honeymoon in Hawaii, no doubt thrilled that they had managed to shake off the paparazzi. It was only on her return to Mumbai on October 27 that the news was let out.
When Madhuri spoke to this paper on Friday, she didn't seem to be overly nervous. ``I am very excited,'' she said. ``Tomorrow, the world will see Sriram. I can't tell you how many people have been calling to ask me what he looks like, what he's all about. Now they can finally see him.''
On Saturday, her friends and fans got their first glimpse of the doctor, who looked dashing in an off-white churidar kurta with a long-sleeved jacket heavily embroidered with zari.
Madhuri was a radiant bride, dazzling the guests with her million-watt smile. Wearing a copper- and-peach coloured ghagra choli designed by Reza of Anja Saan, with a matching copper-coloured kundan around her neck, Madhuri Nene and her doctor seemed smitten with each other.

Quote of the day : "I told Madhuri Dixit to promptly have a daughter as beautiful as her. Then I'd get my son Aryan to marry her." Shah Rukh Khan (January 4, 2000 Tuesday)
